Photographer Stephane Themeze presents a retrospective look spanning ten years of image making from 2007-2017, a period defined by sharper aesthetic attention to form as well as a better understanding of how light and color work together.
These years have also been marked by the decision not to chase photographs but to inscribe the practice into the everyday, the repetitive, and the familiar, thus allowing the artist to affirm a better connection to his environment and to his life, to be more attuned to his visual sensations and thus expand the field of his creativity.
Subjects of Themeze’s photographs include nature details, intimate landscapes and urban compositions.
A self-taught photographer, Themeze started photography in the early 1990s on the streets of Paris, France, inspired by the works of photographers such as Edouard Boubat, Andre Kertesz and Robert Doisneau.
His photography can be viewed on his website www.stephanethemeze.weebly.com.
